A Night in the Opera

Join us on April 7, 2022 for "A Night in the Opera" at Chicago's La Storia Restaurant — an immersive arts event, where guests become part of the live premiere and filming of Daron Hagen's (left) opera 9/10: Love Before the Fall. 

On a beautiful autumn evening of 10 September 2001, four friends meet for dinner at a favorite and often-revisited restaurant in Little Italy. A party of four shares intimate memories, dreams and hopes for the future. Over dessert, the men reveal the purpose of the meal when they propse to their girlfriends. When the accept, the four launch into an ensemble paraphrasing Dante: "Remember tonight, for it is the start of everything." As they depart, they stop outside to look together through the gaps in the Manhattan skyline at the stars for a few moments before heading home...

The operafilm will be released in fall 2022 by Naxos, and guests will be included in the production's credits. Don't miss this one night only event.

Ticket Options

• Supernumerary Seat | Each guest will enjoy a three course dinner, seated within the dining room's shared tables. Each ticket is $500, with $350 being a charitable gift to Roosevelt University's Center for Arts Leadership. 30 supernumerary tickets are available. 
  
• VIP Bar Seat | Each guest will enjoy a three course dinner, seated at the bar. VIP guests will be included in close-up shots and will be served by composer Daron Hagen. Each ticket is $1,000, with $850 being a charitable gift to Roosevelt University's Center for Arts Leadership. 4 VIP tickets are available.

In this production, Chicago College of Performing Arts students will serve as production assistants and understudies — giving them a first-hand opportunity to explore the creation, operation, marketing and business of opera and film. The Center empowers students in music, theatre and dance to excel as artis and professionals, using the arts to inspire social change.
