Presented by the Chicago College of Performing Arts

More in this section...

Join the Chicago College of Performing Arts on March 31 and April 1, at the historic Chicago Temple, for "Love and Redemption" a double-bill presentation of Giacomo Puccini's Suor Angelic and Jonathan Dove's Tobias and the Angel.

"Love and Redemption" pairs an early 20th-century work in the grand opera tradition with an imaginative and intimate "church opera" composed in 1999. The Chicago Temple provides a stunning backdrop for the depiction of these complex spiritual journeys, which ultimately illustrate the power of divine grace and love to bring about forgiveness and redemption.

Advanced reservations are hightly recommended. A suggested donation of $10 per person will help support future Chicago College of Performing Arts programs.

Performance Notes: Suor Angelica will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. Tobias and the Angel will be sung in English. Run time: 2 hours, 10 minutes, with intermission. Production Team: Michael Pecak, conductor; Shannon McGinnis and Dana Brown, music directors; Rose Freeman, stage director
